As always, at the beginning of the year is all about rules, and routines and book care. This year with Third Grade through Fifth Grade we also talked about Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn behavior for the library. This behaviors follow along with our PBIS program that we have started at HES this year. The Third Graders took some behaviors that I thought up and sorted them into what category they thought it belonged. The Fourth and Fifth Grade students had to come up with their own behaviors for the different categories. Below you will see some of my favorites.

Coming up next for our HES students:
Kindergarten: We will be learning all about what they author does.
First Grade: We will begin learning about the differences between fiction and nonfiction.
Second Grade: We will continue to review the differences between fiction and
nonfiction. We will also begin to learn about nonfiction text
features. We will also be working on our new student log ins.
Third Grade: We will be "Cracking the Library Code". This means we will be
learning all about call numbers. We will also be working on our
new student log ins.
Fourth Grade: We will be reviewing how to read a record on Destiny, our
online library catalog. We will also be working on our new
student log ins.
Fifth Grade: We will be reviewing how to read a record on Destiny, our online
library catalog and find the book on the shelf. We will also be
working on our new student log ins.
I will also be doing book talks to the different grades. I'll be posting on the blog some of my favorites from the books that I read this summer.
